10 Best AI SEO Agencies In Malaysia, Scored And Compared

The best AI SEO agencies in Malaysia are Primal at 8.0 out of 10, Rankpage at 7.2 and Exabytes at 7.0, scored on nine public facts such as an AI search service page, Google and Clutch reviews, and how often each shows up in search and AI answers.

Key Takeaways

  • We scored 10 AI SEO agencies out of 10 on each of nine criteria, such as an AI search service page, Google and Clutch reviews and how often the agency shows up when buyers search or ask AI, then averaged the nine scores.
  • Primal averages 8.0 out of 10, and Rankpage and Exabytes follow on 7.2 and 7.0.
  • Only 2 of the 10 agencies list their own tool for tracking AI answers, and 5 list no tool at all.
  • Over the last month, Elevate, Primal's AI Visibility Tracker, logged 16,543 AI answers across 172 queries, and a brand's own website was cited in only about a quarter of them.
  • On questions about agencies, the directory Clutch was cited more often than any agency's own website, so check an agency's listings as well as its own pages.

How AI Assistants Pick The Agencies They Recommend

Artificial intelligence (AI) assistants such as ChatGPT pick the agencies they recommend from what other sites say about them. Ask one for the best AI SEO agencies in Malaysia, and many of the links under its short list point to directories and lists the agencies do not own. AI SEO is search engine optimisation (SEO) for these answers.

Elevate, Primal’s AI Visibility Tracker, logged 3,693 answers across 66 queries about agencies and search over the last month, and Clutch was cited in about 4 in 10, more than any agency’s own site.

How We Scored Each Agency

We started with the 27 agencies on Google’s first-page lists for this search or on our own first version of this page, Primal included. We kept those with a live page that sells AI SEO, answer engine optimisation (AEO) or generative engine optimisation (GEO) in Malaysia. Then we kept the 10 with the most Google reviews.

Each agency gets a score out of 10 on each of the nine things below. Its score in the table is the average of the nine, to one decimal place.

  1. AI search service: 10 for a live page that sells AI SEO, AEO or GEO by name, 5 for AI search mentioned on a general SEO page, 0 for none.
  2. Own measurement: 10 when the agency’s site lists its own tool for tracking AI visibility, 5 when it lists another company’s tool that it reports from, 0 for no tool. Primal’s tool is Elevate, Primal’s AI Visibility Tracker.
  3. AI search guidance: 10 for 10 or more guides or posts on AI search on the agency’s own site, 8 for 5 to 9, 5 for 1 to 4, 0 for none.
  4. Google reviews: 10 for four and a half stars or more from 100 or more reviews on its Google Business Profile, 8 for four and a half stars or more from 50 or more, 5 for four stars or more from 10 or more, 0 for fewer or none.
  5. Clutch: 10 for a listing on Clutch with 10 or more reviews, 5 for 1 to 9 reviews, 2 for a listing with no reviews, 0 for no listing.
  6. Track record: 10 for 10 or more years in business, 5 for 5 to 9 years, 0 for under 5 years or no published founding year.
  7. Team and offices: 10 for 50 or more people and more than one office, 8 for one of the two, 5 for 10 to 49 people, 0 for fewer or no published figure.
  8. Transparency: 10 for publishing both client results with figures and its prices, 5 for one of the two, 0 for neither.
  9. Shows up for its own trade: the average of two halves, rounded to a whole number. One half is how many of four searches, for AI SEO, SEO, AEO and GEO agencies in Malaysia, show the agency’s own site in Google’s first 10 results, where a directory page about it does not qualify. The other half is how many of four buyer questions about the same services, put to the AI assistant Perplexity on the day we scored, mention the agency. Each half scores 10 for all four, 8 for three, 5 for two, 3 for one and 0 for none.

The table lists the agencies in order of average score. When two agencies tie, the one with more Google reviews goes first.

The first two criteria rest on a point from Google itself. Google’s guide to AI features says the usual SEO practices apply. It says AI Overviews and AI Mode need no special optimisation. So the AI search part of an agency’s work is what it does beyond sound SEO. You also need a way to see whether that work changed the answers.

Best AI SEO Agencies In Malaysia

Our scores put Primal first among the best AI SEO agencies in Malaysia, at 8.0 out of 10, then Rankpage at 7.2 and Exabytes at 7.0. No agency scored full marks on all nine.

Agency AI Service Own Tracking AI Guides Google Reviews Clutch Track Record Team Transparency Shows Up Average
Primal 10 10 10 5 10 10 10 5 2 8.0

LOCUS-T 10 5 0 10 2 10 8 10 2 6.3
Cleverus 10 5 8 8 2 10 5 5 4 6.3
Newnormz 10 0 8 10 5 5 5 10 2 6.1

BeanSE 10 0 0 8 0 10 0 10 0 4.2
Marvant Evolutions 5 0 5 8 5 0 5 10 0 4.2

Two gaps run through the table. Only Primal and Rankpage list their own tool for tracking AI answers, and half the agencies list no tool at all. Clutch is the other gap. Only one agency here earns full marks there, although Clutch is the site AI answers cite most often on questions about agencies.

1. Primal

Primal is a marketing agency for search, AI search and advertising, with offices in Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok and Singapore. Its AI SEO service tests buyer questions in ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Google’s AI Overviews, and Elevate, Primal’s AI Visibility Tracker, records the answers and citations on each platform. Primal started in 2015, has more than 150 people and 26 reviews on Clutch, and has published more than 10 guides on AI search on its site. It gets half marks on Google reviews, with 36 at more than four and a half stars, and half marks on transparency, because it publishes client results but no prices. Its own site showed up in none of the four searches for its trade, and Perplexity mentioned it in one of the four buyer answers, so it scores two on showing up. It suits brands that want AI search and Google SEO run as one programme through ElevateSEO™.

Its home page puts AI SEO first in the menu, above a headline about growing revenue and a button to book a consultation.

2. Rankpage

Rankpage is a Kuala Lumpur SEO agency with a dedicated AI SEO page that covers AEO and GEO. It is one of only two agencies here that list their own AI tracking tool, which it calls AIRM, and it publishes package prices and client results. Clutch lists a second Rankpage office in Singapore and 10 to 49 staff, which scores 8 on team and offices. It gets half marks for its start in 2017, its 41 Google reviews at five stars and the six reviews on its Malaysian Clutch listing, and falls two points short on guides with seven posts on AI search. Its own site showed up in one of the four searches, the one for AEO, and Perplexity mentioned it in two of the four answers, which averages to four on showing up. It suits a business that wants AI SEO with a tracking tool and fixed package prices.

3. Exabytes

Exabytes is a Penang web hosting and digital services company whose SEO page sells AI SEO, AEO and GEO beside Google SEO. It has run since 2001, lists 50 to 249 staff on Clutch, has a second office in Singapore and publishes monthly SEO package prices and a client result. Its Google profile has 5,431 reviews at more than four and a half stars, the most on this list. It gets no marks for listing no tool to track AI answers and only two points on Clutch, where it has no reviews yet, and it falls two points short on guides with five posts on AI search. Its own site showed up in two of the four searches, for AI SEO and for SEO, but Perplexity mentioned it in none of the answers, so it scores three on showing up. It suits a business that wants hosting, a website and search work from one provider.

Its home page is a hosting and domains shop first, with the SEO and AI search services under the Digital menu.

4. LOCUS-T

LOCUS-T is a Petaling Jaya agency whose AI SEO page covers Google’s AI Overviews, AI Mode testing, AEO and GEO. Its Google profile has 213 reviews at more than four and a half stars, and it publishes client results with figures and, on one landing page, a monthly SEO price. It was founded in 2000, and Clutch lists it with 50 to 249 staff but no reviews, which scores 8 on team and offices and 2 on Clutch. We found no posts on AI search on its site, so it gets no marks there, and its AI page describes an AI Overview Tracker without saying whose tool it is, which gets half marks. Its own site showed up in one of the four searches, the one for SEO, and Perplexity mentioned it in none of the answers, so it scores two on showing up. It suits a company with a long-running SEO programme that wants AI search added to it.

5. Cleverus

Cleverus is a Kuala Lumpur SEO agency, founded in 2013, with a dedicated GEO page and eight guides on GEO and AEO. It tracks AI citations with Lawnise, a platform it calls its sister company and describes as independent, which gets half marks as another company’s tool. Clutch lists it with one office, 10 to 49 staff and no reviews yet, which leaves it two points on Clutch and half marks on team. It publishes a client result with figures but not its prices, which also gets half marks, and its 65 Google reviews at more than four and a half stars score 8. Its own site showed up in two of the four searches, for AI SEO and for GEO, and Perplexity mentioned it in one of the four answers, so it scores four on showing up. It suits brands that want GEO work with regular citation reports.

6. Newnormz

Newnormz is a Mid Valley City agency whose GEO and AI SEO page covers ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Google’s AI Overviews in English, Bahasa Malaysia and Chinese. It has nine guides on AEO and GEO, publishes both its prices and an AEO client result with figures, and has 214 Google reviews at five stars. It gets no marks for listing no AI tracking tool and falls two points short on guides. Its nine Clutch reviews, its start in 2018 and its team of under 50 in one office each get half marks. Its own site did not show up in any of the four searches, but Perplexity mentioned it in one of the four answers, the one on GEO, so it scores two on showing up. It suits small and mid-sized businesses that want GEO priced up front.

On its home page, SEO and GEO sit in the menu above a digital marketing headline and a drawing of a man working on a laptop.

7. Xedea

Xedea, formerly Shock Media Studio, is a Subang Jaya agency founded in 2012 that works mainly with small and mid-sized businesses. Its SEO page covers AEO and AI SEO without a separate AI search page, and it sends monthly reports from Semrush, another company’s tool, so it gets half marks on each. Its one post on AEO and GEO, its eight Clutch reviews and the 11 to 50 staff on its LinkedIn page get half marks too. It publishes SEO package prices and a client result with figures. Its Google profile has 64 reviews at four and a half stars, which scores 8. Its own site showed up in none of the four searches, but Perplexity mentioned it in one of the four answers, so it scores two on showing up.

8. Cloudix Digital

Cloudix Digital is a Kuala Lumpur agency whose SEO page includes an AI SEO and AEO service, which gets half marks because it has no separate AI search page. It has six posts on AI Overviews and AEO, many of them about video, and publishes client results and prices for its web design and branding work. Clutch lists it as founded in 2020, with 10 to 49 staff and no reviews yet, which gets it half marks on track record and on team, and two points on Clutch. It gets no marks for listing no tool to track AI answers and half marks for its 32 Google reviews. Neither the four searches nor the four Perplexity answers showed it, so it gets no marks for showing up. It suits a business that wants video and content work tied to AI search.

9. BeanSE

BeanSE, or Bean Search Expert, is a Puchong agency that has run since 1999, with a dedicated AI-enhanced SEO page covering GEO and AEO. Its Google profile has 84 reviews at more than four and a half stars, and it publishes client results with figures and course prices through its training academy. It gets no marks on half the criteria. We found no AI tracking tool, no AI search guides or posts and no Clutch listing, and its LinkedIn page lists a team of ten or fewer. It did not appear in the four searches or in the four Perplexity answers, which leaves it with no marks for showing up. It suits a small business that wants SEO alongside AI training for its own staff.

10. Marvant Evolutions

Marvant Evolutions is a Petaling Jaya performance marketing agency, founded in 2022, that works mostly with home and decor brands. Its SEO page combines AI SEO, AEO and technical SEO, and it has one guide on GEO and AEO, so both criteria get half marks. Its Google profile has 72 reviews at five stars, and it publishes client results with figures and a starting price. It gets no marks for listing no AI tracking tool or for its short time in business, and half marks for its five Clutch reviews and its team of under 50. The four searches and the four Perplexity answers did not show it either, so it gets no marks for showing up. It suits a home and decor brand that wants ads and SEO from one team.

How To Check An AI SEO Agency Yourself

You can test any agency on this list, or any other, in an afternoon. The criteria above take a few minutes each.

  1. Ask ChatGPT, Gemini and Google your own buyer question, in your buyers’ words. Note which agencies each answer mentions and which sources it cites.
  2. Check each agency’s listings. Look at its Clutch profile and its Google Business Profile. Then look up its company record on SSM e-Info, the portal of the Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM).
  3. Check the agency’s own citations. Ask which sources AI answers cite when they mention the agency. An agency that cannot show its own sources will struggle to show yours.
  4. Check its method with the questions further down, and ask how it checks crawler access. OpenAI’s guide to its crawlers says a site that blocks OAI-SearchBot will not be shown in ChatGPT search answers.
  5. Check its reporting. Ask for a sample report with the client’s name removed, and compare it with the report list further down.
  6. Agree the prompts, the targets and the review date before you sign. Keep your Google Business Profile, Search Console and analytics in your company’s name, and add the agency as a user.

The crawler check is the quickest one to do yourself. OpenAI’s page below explains the crawler that ChatGPT search relies on. Your robots.txt file shows whether you let it in.

What AI Answers Cite Beyond Your Website

Elevate, Primal’s AI Visibility Tracker, logged 16,543 AI answers across 172 queries about 12 brands in 12 industries over the last month. A brand’s own website was cited in only about a quarter of the answers about it, and a competitor’s site was cited about as often.

The chart below shows the spread across those brands, from the brand whose site was cited least to the one cited most. Even the brand cited most was left off about a third of its answers.

Bar chart of the share of AI answers about a brand that cite its own website, across 12 brands: lowest 10%, median 25%, highest 69%

Marketplaces and comparison sites were cited for 11 of the 12 brands, and Facebook was the social site cited most often for 8 of them. Google’s own Business Profile and Maps results showed up for 7, and a government register or regulator for 6.

Should We Focus On Other Platforms, Not Just Our Website

Customers often ask us whether they should focus on other platforms, not just the website. For most brands the answer is yes, with the website kept as the source of truth.

Start with the pages an AI answer already cites in your category. Make sure each one describes your services and location the way your website does, then fix the ones that are out of date.

How Do You Measure AI Search Visibility

Customers often ask us how we track AI visibility. You run a fixed set of buyer questions on each AI platform every day and record what comes back. Elevate, Primal’s AI Visibility Tracker, stores each answer, the brands it mentions and the sources it cites.

From those records you get visibility, which is the share of answers that mention you. You also get share of voice, your position in the answer and the sites the answers cite. Read each one per platform, because ChatGPT and Google’s AI Overviews can answer the same question in different ways. Our post on how to measure AI search visibility sets out the method step by step. I also cover it in a video on my channel.

In this video I explain how to measure whether AI assistants are recommending your brand.

What Share Of Voice Means In AI Answers

Customers often ask us what AI share of voice means. It is your share of all the brand mentions in a set of AI answers, with the other mentions going to the competitors you track. Visibility is a different measure. It is the share of answers that mention you at all.

Say 100 answers mention five brands 160 times in all, and you appear once in each of 40 answers. Your visibility is 40%, because you are in 40 of the 100 answers. Your share of voice is 25%, because 40 of the 160 mentions are yours.

What An AI SEO Report Should Show

A useful report lets you check the work without taking the agency’s word for it. Ask for these every month:

  • the prompts tracked, in your buyers’ words, and the platforms they run on
  • your visibility and share of voice on each platform, against competitors you can see by name
  • the sites each answer cites, split into your own pages and other people’s pages
  • what changed since the month before, and which piece of work the agency thinks caused it
  • the work done that month, page by page and listing by listing

Questions To Ask Before You Hire One

Ask every agency on your shortlist the same questions, then compare the answers side by side.

  • Which prompts will you track for us, and can we add our own?
  • Which AI platforms do you cover, and how often do you run each prompt?
  • Which sources do the AI answers about us cite today?
  • How do you check that AI crawlers can read our site?
  • What will you change beyond our website, such as our directory listings, Google Business Profile and Facebook page?
  • What do we keep if we leave?

Our AI SEO services page sets out how we run this work and what it covers.

Frequently Asked Questions About AI SEO Agencies In Malaysia

How Were The Agencies On This List Chosen?

We took every agency on the lists that rank on Google’s first page for this search and on our first version of this page. We kept those with a live AI SEO, AEO or GEO page in Malaysia, then the 10 with the most Google reviews.

What Does An AI SEO Agency Do?

An AI SEO agency works to get your brand mentioned and cited in AI answers, such as those in ChatGPT, Gemini and Google’s AI Overviews. The work covers SEO, AEO, GEO, schema, crawler access and the sources beyond your website. It also tracks the answers each month, so you can see what changed.

What Do The First 3 Months Of AEO And SEO Work Look Like?

Customers often ask us how the first 3 months split between AEO and SEO. A sound plan starts by agreeing the buyer questions, then runs them on each platform to record where you stand.

Crawler access and page fixes come next, then content and outside sources. Technical fixes can show in AI answers within weeks, while mentions on competitive questions usually take several months.

Is There A Minimum Contract Length For AI SEO?

Customers often ask us whether they must sign for a year or can start with a shorter term. Terms differ from agency to agency, so ask before you compare proposals. AI answers change from week to week, so judge any agency on several months of reports. Ask too what you keep if you leave, such as the prompt list, the reports and the content.

Can An Agency Guarantee My Brand Appears In ChatGPT?

An agency can guarantee a result when the contract sets out a measure, a date and a remedy. The measure is what is checked, such as the share of AI answers to your buyer questions that mention you. The date is when it is checked, and the remedy is what you can do if the target is missed.

Primal publishes its performance guarantees, so you can read the terms before you sign. They apply only where your quotation says they are included. Be careful with a promise of a fixed place in ChatGPT, because the same question can return different brands on different days.
